If one wished to be conspiratorial, perhaps the Democrats are well aware they can't win this time and that's why Newsom, etc, are keeping their powder dry for 2028. Still, they had to remove Biden because he was damaging candidates in the Senate and the House. Perhaps Harris knows herself that she's onto a loser, but agreed to run for the sake of raising her own profile - higher speaking fees, etc (considering she has no chance of ever being the candidate through an open primary)?
