Yeah, what you said. Seemed like for a while HBO couldn't fail but I don't exactly quiver with anticipation when I hear they're pushing out another one. Although (and I'm surprised we haven't talked about this here) True Blood is some pretty fine trash. As soon as I saw vampire on human homemade porn within the first 10 minutes of the pilot, I knew we were in for something fun.

Must Sean Bean ALWAYS carry a sword in his projects these days? I swear he still thinks he's on the LOTR set.

So anybody watch this? I actually had the book dropped in my lap by a friend about a week ago, it's not exactly my cup 'o tea but I'm a little gratified that it's full on fantasy and not historical drama. There are monsters and mythical kingdoms going on here. Oh yes, and fucking. And beheadings. I'll watch for a bit.

OK, let's circle back to this one...I got lazy and stopped watching after the 3rd episode, my brother told me it was just getting good at that point so we got caught up over the last week or so and are hooked (just in time for the end of the season...d'oh). Fun stuff, I am not the biggest sword/sorcery guy but like it, so if you've got any affinity for that kind of shit I highly recommend.

was just coming here to say that over the weekend i finally got to start this one. three episodes in so far (so no spoilers!) and i think it's fucking amazing. really, really good show. really. as a bonus there is lots of gore and tits.

There is a lovely collection of gore and tits on the show, and once they've laid the groundwork and get things really rocking, shit gets out of hand in a very entertaining way. Definitely avoid spoilers if you can because you will be in for a doozy in Episode 9.

Downloaded the first six episodes but haven't gotten around to watching them yet. Probably because I know fuck'all about the story, characters or books. Just downloaded it because everyone else was talking about the show.

Fictional medieval world divided into a variety of kingdoms, with some long gone supernatural beasties in the outlying forests that appear to be making a comeback and some cross-kingdom palace intrigues that will lead to trouble for many. Plus, Peter Dinklage as a rockstar from mars whoring midget who's smarter than everybody else.

i know fuck all about the story too, just started watching. it's a little weird at first keeping up but nothing anyone who reads this forum would have trouble with.

it's so good i'm thinking about reading the books.

and yes, dinklage is a genius. he was a bit creepy when i first saw him on nip/tuck. he was just awesome in elf, and great on 30 rock. this? this is a part he is made for.

I first saw him in The Station Agent, a movie which made me think A: Somebody wrote a really good character around a little person, and B: They cast a little person who can really fucking act, too. Been impressed with him ever since.

I'm not a fan of books of this ilk but I'm gonna guess anyone who likes Dune or sword and sorcery stuff would appreciate them (started to read Game of Thrones, decided to watch the show instead).

Sounds interesting enough. Downloaded the HD-versions too and from the looks if, it's camera work and set designs are just stunning.

yeah, judging by what the old dude at the wall said, i believe you're right. forcing the stark girl to look at her family's heads on pikes was a bit much. i hoped she would have pushed him, but more likely with her was jumping, which didn't happen either. also, the other daughter has wee boobs - she can't pass for a boy for long....

yeah, from what i hear, this ended pretty much where the first book did. such a huge, rich, lavish story-scape. it could go on for a long, long time, old gods willing.
