Haven't had time to see this yet, but you kind of lost me at she slept with Trevor. Seriously? *Sigh*.
The Wonder Woman animated film is still the best take I've seen on her.

to be fair, they are in a bedroom together. they kiss. next scene. so, shrug. but don't get me wrong, i did like the film. i just don't get how some people are thinking this is finally the DC film we've been waiting on or whatever - it's almost exactly the same as the other ones. they are just willing to overlook that because of a "strong female lead". i get it, but that doesn't erase the rest of the thing.

so i now know how this incongruity happened: the boat scene was improvised and no one thought to change (or not include) the scripted love scene.

Warning: There are spoilers ahead if you haven't seen "Wonder Woman."

One of the best parts of "Wonder Woman" is undeniably the chemistry between Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine).

Nowhere is this illustrated better than in an early scene where the two travel from Diana Prince's home of Themyscira to London where the two have one of the film's funniest exchanges about her parentage and sex.

There's this moment you've probably seen in the trailers:

Steve: What about your father?
Diana: I had no father. My mother sculpted me from clay and I was brought to life by Zeus.
Steve: Well that's neat.

The moment that really sells the scene is when Diana can't understand why Steve is uncomfortable sleeping next to her. When he assumes she doesn't understand the desires and pleasures of the flesh, she proceeds to tell him she has read all 12 volumes of Cleo's treatises on body and pleasure. The kicker is when she tells Steve that while men are essential for procreation, they are expendable for things like pleasure, rendering Steve speechless.

It's pretty impressive when you know the entire scene was ad-libbed.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Pine said he had the easy role of responding to how anyone would to a superhero. The scene really showed just how good Gadot is at improv.

"She has to be the straight woman, that’s the harder part,” Pine told EW. "She’s delivering lines like ‘My father is Zeus’ — that is just so ridiculous. And she has to say it with a straight face, with a certain amount of innocence and earnestness. I get to react like any human being would to hearing something as ridiculous as that. So I had easy."

Surprisingly strong for a DC movie, for sure (probably because Snyder didn't direct). Gadot fits perfectly as Diana and some of the action scenes combined with very good editing stood out for sure. But is David Thewlis the worst miscast in all of cinema? He didn't fit AT ALL in the role. And the whole Chris Pine-gang of merry men were completely pointless. I wanted to see more of the native american but the other two could have been left on the cutting room floor.

All too true. I hope this one is better than the last one, which started out good and then quickly fell apart.

WW84 - done.

Man, Jenkins made some choices in this one, huh? Thematically and tonally it's ALL OVER the place. I can't imagine this was a conscious choice? It feels like the film switched directors at least three times during production. The first 30 minutes or so might be the worst I've seen in a good long time, the middle part is just boring superhero stuff with some heavy handed Israel/Jerusalem themes thrown in there for a few minutes and then the last act is... Man. What a complete trash fire of a film.
