18 episodes now. I hope Lynch/Frost have enough story in them and don't just pad out what they've written already.

Maybe it'll be spread out over two years, a la the last seasons of Mad Men and Breaking Bad?
This is a snakeskin jacket. And for me it's a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom.

18 goddamn episodes. That's amazing.

Also, the seem to really want to go back to the shooting locations of the pilot. Heard they were re-modelling the Mar T Cafe to look like the RR Diner again, amongst other things. Lots of shooting in and around Snoqualmie.

shooting on digital:
WTTP wrote:UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 2015): Now that production on the new series has started, Welcome to Twin Peaks can confirm that David Lynch is shooting in digital and using the Arri Amira camera in particular.

In a 3-hour Q&A with the students of the David Lynch MA in Film inside his recording studio, David Lynch was asked whether he’d ever work with celluloid again:
Maybe in still pictures. I don’t think I would be able to do it in cinema. And I don’t really want to.
The two-part Q&A session happened just hours before it was announced that the deal with Showtime was back on, but the student cleverly followed up asking if he’d consider celluloid for television. David Lynch’s upfront answer:
No, no, no. It would be ridiculous. It’s all gonna end up on TV anyway. So many things get lost from celluloid to the final… whatever you’re showing on.
Several of David Lynch’s favorite recent shows, like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and True Detective, were shot on film, but that obviously hasn’t convinced him to go analog again.

It looks like one key actor from the original "Twin Peaks" series will not be returning for the follow-up in Showtime.

TV Line reports that Michael Ontkean has opted not to reprise his beloved role of Sheriff Harry S. Truman in the limited-run revival. A source close to the actor says: "Michael is fully retired from show business, and has been for many years."

On top of that, the site also says that veteran actor Robert Forster has stepped in to replace Ontkean as the town's sheriff, though it's unclear if he'll play Truman or a new character. Rumor was Lynch originally eyed Forster for the role of Sheriff Truman during the show's inaugral run.

Forester joins other newcomers to the franchise with Peter Sarsgaard, Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried also expected to join the project which will sport over a dozen episodes all helmed by Lynch himself.
kind of a bummer but holy shit, forster!!

he's ned braden. :)

but yeah, he is absolutely truman. even a year ago he was asking for help finding truman's jacket, don't know what happened. but this is not a show stopper. gives them the opportunity to write about something interesting having happened to truman and to introduce a new element in fantastic actor forster. also, gives albert someone new to jab with. :)

I'd love to see Forster in the new series, but not as Truman. I want him as a new character. In fact, I don't want to see any character re-cast (besides Donna, obviously) if the original actor can't/won't be in the show. I'd rather see that character not show up.

this just made my day:
DH wrote:Miguel Ferrer Returns To "Twin Peaks"

Another "Twin Peaks" alum is re-teaming with David Lynch for his upcoming revival of the 1990 mystery drama series for Showtime.

Miguel Ferrer is set to reprise his role as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield from the original series in the new season which will debut in 2017. Ferrer played the cynical city FBI forensics specialist in eight episodes of the original. His character proved a pain in the side of local sheriff Harry S. Truman.

Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee, David Patrick Kelly, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried star in the new episodes which are currently in production.

Well, it appears that the rumors are true. A “Mulholland Drive” reunion between David Lynch and Naomi Watts had been alleged late last year for his new “Twin Peaks” revival on Showtime and according to a new report from Deadline, it's happening. Watts will be joining Lynch’s show, which revisits the community and scene of a crime some 25 years after the fact.

The site also reports that formerly troubled and prison-prone actor Tom Sizemore — who has cleaned up, but hasn’t worked on a substantial film since 2002’s “Big Trouble” — has joined the cast. Lynch is directing all the new “Twin Peaks” installments and the trade adds that the filmmaker is also rumored to be reprising his recurring role from the original series as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole.

Lynch plucked Watts out of obscurity after she had been struggling in Hollywood and was about to quit. The director cast her basically on her head shot, fell for her in person and then gave her the lead of his “Mulholland Drive” ABC TV series that eventually became the bizarre feature film that many love and cherish.

In related news, Heather Graham, who had a small part on the series, recently confirmed she’s not returning for the show. Newcomers to the cast include Laura Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Amanda Seyfried. “Twin Peaks” is a limited series that will debut in the first half of 2017 on Showtime.
