Re: John Wick

Binged all three episodes of The Continental last night. I say “episodes”, but they are really three movies - episode 1 is 86 min long, ep 2 is 79 min, ep 3 is 97 min. I would say that as with anything that really didn’t need to exist, it’s a little uneven in parts, but not many. It’s mostly really good. Certainly a ton of action and murder. Like, pretty wild killings. Just watch the opening sequence. A LOT OF KILLING. Some side plots I really didn’t give a shit about or see why we’re supposed to, but there wasn’t a ton of time spent on that stuff. Mel Gibson dropping in and out of a very vague Boston accent was amusing, but of course he was fucking great. Always brings an intensity to things. At times he’s a bit cartoony, but really, so is the entire John Wick universe, so he fits right in. It’s hard to see how this young Winston grows up to be Ian McShane, but if you can suspend that disbelief, it’s quite enjoyable. A big “watch it” from me, dog.
