Belzebubs - Pantheon of the Nightside Gods

Sure, it's a band based on a webcomic much like Gorillaz or DeathKlok, but this album... It's amazing. A really solid blend of black/death/prog that reminds me of a mix between Insomnium and Dimmu Borgir back when they wrote good music. Don't miss it!

Tool - Fear Inoculum

Have only listened to it once so far, but man am I disappointed. Most of the songs are too long for their own good and I've yet to find any real "hit singles" on the album. Invincible and the title track stand out, the rest are completely forgetable after one spin.

I wasn't overly impressed either. But because of it they're touring, with Killing Joke as an opener, so I'll give the album a pass having done a good deed.
Just cut them up like regular chickens

Go to a different one. On the Rush's Test for Echo tour I wasn't going to be able to make the Kansas City date, closest to Lincoln. So I went to Toronto instead (because if you're going to have to fly to see Rush, might as well go for the home town).

I listened to it just a very little yesterday morning at work, and obviously I wasn't able to give it my full attention. But it wasn't grabbing me yet.
This is a snakeskin jacket. And for me it's a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom.

A few weeks ago we went and saw our favorite band from our years in living in Dallas, Speedealer, at a little club here in Denver. A local band opened for them that I hadn't heard of before, and they were really good. I bought one of their albums off Bandcamp so far. They're called Valiomierda, and they play a mix of thrash/punk/death with a definite Sepultura influence (some of the songs are in Spanish and Portugese too). Most of the songs are short and heavy, and they just had a fun, loose performance. I definitely hope to see them again.

My daughter made a new friend at school and had her over for a playdate on Saturday. The girl's mom, Misty, wanted to come over too and meet my wife and make sure it was all good, fine. She brought 2 bottles of wine and stayed and chatted with my wife the whole time (or apparently mostly just talked the whole time without really listening to anything my wife said). Misty asked my wife what kind of music she was into, and she said "well, a lot of different stuff. Like we're taking our kids to their first opera tonight, but we also listen to a lot of metal." To which Misty replied, "ooh! I love Godsmack!" And my wife went  . :roflmao:

Got to see Behemoth live tonight (supporting Slipknot), made me think of the old man in the corner here... hammering away at his kit out in his front yard, yelling at the kids that this is what they get for not staying off his lawn. Though the police being called probably had more to do with the lack of pants than his drumming...

Slipknot even gave Rammstein a run for their money with the pyrotechnics. Disappointing lack of bats.

Edit: Fuck me, Godsmack. Talk about repressed memories...
