i know that sometimes it's very convenient to link to a remote image. it's easy and tempting. however, it's not really good netiquette, and could have unexpected results (some places replace hotlinked images with a very graphic image) and could go away at the remote hoster's whim.
luckily, no longer do you have to go to a free image hoster like imageshack, upload it, then come here & paste the results. the new version of our forum allows you to upload/attach images directly to your post.
here's how:
- Click the "Upload attachment" tab below the message box
- For "Filename", click "Browse"
- In the "File Upload" box that pops up, in the box that reads "Filename", paste the full URL of the image (i.e., http://www.someremoteserver.com/someimage.jpg)
- Click "Open"
- Add comments if you wish - not necessary
- Click "Add the file"
- If you would like the image/attachment to be displayed within your post rather than at the bottom of your post, click "Place inline"
this has been your friendly neighborhood Ø tip of the day. thanks for reading!
