How to embed video in your post

Postby TC on 09/04/08, 10:37:57

ok all, tried to make this as easy as possible...

you may notice the "youtube" button above the posting text box. intended usage is as follows:
Code: Select all

example:
Code: Select all

and NOT:
Code: Select all

enjoy.

changed the video tags a bit. old ones should be considered deprecated (i didn't remove so that old embeds still work), this will be the way going forward. please take a look, it's really simple now.

You will, however, still need to use the "video" tag to embed videos that are not from YouTube. The new YouTube tag will absolutely not work with material from other sites.

The syntax for the video tag is as follows:

Code: Select all

Example:

Code: Select all

right. the "video" and "cine" tags still work for other sites, would just prefer to use "youtube" for, you know, youtube going forward. so i guess maybe i need to re-post the instructions for using those tags...?

also to note: the dimensions aren't necessary. if you leave them out, the video will be scaled to the default dimensions drae posted. you only need to put them if you want a different size.

if anyone can come up with a list of other hosts from which we post video with any degree of frequency (vimeo?), list them in this topic. if we use one enough, it can have its own button ala youtube.

changed this again to use the youtu.be link, as that one NEVER has ampersands and is much easier/quicker to grab. i will fix any posts that are hosed but going forward let's do this instead. this should be it, folks.
