Wow. I'm so glad that I stayed away from spoilers for this movie. I knew nothing going in, but expected they would permanently kill one or two characters. What happened instead was completely unexpected. I think they did a fantastic job of utilizing all of the characters and keeping the story moving along at the same time. The movie didn't feel nearly as long as it was, and all of the side stories were important (Star Wars take note: this was done much better than crappy side stories like the casino planet in The Last Jedi). I'm looking forward to seeing this one again.

yeah i'm anxious to see this again. also, another film where "the" scene from the trailer doesn't appear in the final film, since you are comparing it to SW films (the greatest rogue one scene in the trailer isn't in the film, similar to this one).

Tony can build a mini arc reactor out of junk parts in a cave in Afghanistan but can't repair a ship to get him home with all the spare parts and resources on Titan?
Just cut them up like regular chickens

So nothing about Endgame so far? Oh well, some quick thoughts:

– Captain Marvel? More like Captain Deus Ex Machina AM I RIGHT?
- So Hulk was the only one strong enough to wield the gauntlet but then all of a sudden... Iron Man could too? Yeah, I mean, it killed him but nevertheless.
- And btw - how can Iron Man put together a gauntlet if it took the dwarfs or whatever like a sun (or something?) in Infinity War to make one for Thanos?
- All in all, I liked the way they ended the Iron Man/Cap arcs. Not just a fan of exactly HOW they did it.
- ... but man, deaths of single characters in these films just does not hit as much when you've just wiped out half the population of the universe. The massive stakes in these last two Avengers movies makes the single deaths and/or tragic events... sort of pointless? I mean, they tried hard enough but when half the world has been offed, you really can't feel for the characters when they also loose someone.
- Again; CAPTAIN DEUS EX MACHINA. Jeez. They handled that character so poorly, it was clear as day that she shouldn't have been in it to begin with.
- Bro Hulk fucking sucks.
- Thor stayed fat for the entire film, huh?
- For a film that really liked to make fun of other time travel films, they sure made another one of those time travel films.
- I liked it, for what it was, in the end. A fun, if a bit too long, ride.

yeah i have a lot of those same comments. saw it saturday. was immediately reminded how much i hate crowded movie theaters.

i didn't sere captain marvel so don't know her story, but boy was she underused here and when she was, yeah, she was deus ex machina for sure.

i was following along, down with how they were approaching it, cool with everything, right up until tony stark figured out how to "perfect" time travel in an evening. then they built the rig in what, a day? we didn't even get a "building" montage ala the a-team. then when they did bring all the people back, everyone was cool just immediately being dropped into a massive battle? no questions as to what the fuck happened, what's happening, etc.? seems doctor strange was aware it had been five years, and told people (not sure when). like everyone was immediately ok with what was going on, they were aware of the stakes and what had to be done, etc. that was pretty irritating. like, they clearly just brought back all these "heroes" to say goodbye in this film, or to go "hey, remember me?" i mean, sam jackson (and plenty of others) entire role seemed to be to show up at the funeral and stand there. i'd much rather they left all this memberberries shit out of the film and stayed focused on the core team. just really felt like they suddenly thought their audience was really dumb and needed this. or, what they've thought of their audience all along was finally exposed. i don't know, wasn't a fan of popping all the other characters in like a cavalry for no real reason. i get it, to fight the zillions things army thanos brought with him. speaking of which, i thought they only had so many pim particles. how did she get thanos, his ship, and everyone in it here? i don't know, a lot of this film really felt mailed in. if you are going to bother to bring all these characters back, it would be great if you could give them something meaningful to say or do that makes their screentime count for something other than just another warm body to throw at a problem. but then the film would have been four hours long, you say. to which i say right, so don't do that.

i get that the entire point of this film was for evens, downy and johanssen to say goodbye to this franchise. i think their respective exits were more or less successful and in line with the character. not sure i understand how cap aged that much, but ok i guess. really stoked the rock guy was back. he ruled. glad to see tilda swinton in new scenes. shrug. overall it was just kind of there for me. wish they hadn't done some of the third act things they did.
