It also occured to me that Clay is setting himself up as a UK version of Gasper Noe. My reasons?...the film Irreversible caused great controversy for the fantasy rape scene and Noe has made a great success for himself off the back of this film. There are even some cinematic similarities the circular/panning shots during the blue rape are pretty identical to the shots Noe used.
Is it Clay's intention to set himself up as an enfant terrible?
What other reason could he have for choosing to include a graphic rape scene rather than some other scene of violence?
How does a fantasy rape scene make us more aware that our government is corrupt when it comes to reporting the truth about war/displaced populations/atrocities.

Stanley Kubrick was threatened with death after CWO was released, this was due to the copycat droogies that started popping up around the UK...(incidentally this still happens as there is quite a cult of Alex lovers since CWO has become mainstream. The costume is bowler hats etc the drug of choice is rophynol or ghb). As a result HE withdrew the film and the only way that you could see this film for years was by pirate copies.


The media in the UK has chosen to demonise YP aged under 20 and Clay has jumped right on this band waggon which is why I reckon he must be a Mail on Sunday reader.
If he had done any proper research he would not have made such a crass choice as to have his teeny boys breaking, entering and raping. It's more like Forced Russians and is a fantasy straight out of Clay's imagination.
Films like Kids, Bully, Kidulthood are so formulaic, so teenagers are bad and have sex a lot and act like idiots, yes... indeed they do; but to show them getting off on drugs and turning into psychotic rapists is just buying into Blair's yob culture ideology.

I am very impressed by the film making that is currently coming out of Iraq. There have been some quite fantastic documentaries by Iraqui journalists who are too afraid to put their own identity on the finished work due the high possibility they will be kidnapped or assasinated.
This is the kind of material which really informs us about the atrocities of war, films made by people who are involved.
