FOX entertainment chairmen Gary Newman has confirmed rumors from last year that the TV network is in talks to bring the "X-Men" franchise to TV in some way.

Newman tells TV Insider: "It’s in negotiations. We’re cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative."

Newman adds that he doesn’t think the series will be ready to air before the 2016-2017 TV season, but THR says that “24” producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto are in preliminary conversations develop the series which would be live-action.

Katz and Coto would serve as show runners while scribes Patrick McKay and JD Payne will reportedly pen the pilot episode.
the seem to really have a good thing going with the movie universe, why would they do this?

Money and the usual studio pack mentality. Comic tv shows are doing well now. Warner has Gotham, Flash and Arrow all being fairly successful. Disney has Shield and Carter to a lesser extent but still doing well enough. Fox wants in and the only properties they have are Fantastic Four and X-Men. Fantastic Four is still a crap-shoot yet to be proven and they don't want to jeopardize the film. Plus it has a more limited universe to pull from for a TV show. X-Men is a bit larger with so many mutants and the films have proven themselves successful.
Just cut them up like regular chickens
