As I mentioned on FB the other day, we recently dropped our premium channels (Showtime, Starz, Encore) when AT&T wouldn't extend any of its promotional rates. So we're back down to just the standard cable stuff — news channels, Comedy Central, FX, AMC, etc. And to be honest we've also talked of just dropping cable altogether — Breaking Bad is over with, Mad Men has been sputtering, and the rest of the stuff we wouldn't really miss anyway. Matter of fact, we were cable-less for about 2 1/2 years until summer 2012 and survived just fine.
As far as Netflix, my membership extends back 11 years and we added the streaming service this spring to see the new Arrested Development eps (verdict: not bad, but not essential, either). We scaled back the discs-at-home option to one-at-a-time, and would probably drop the disc option altogether if the streaming branch would ramp up its offerings — there's just so much stuff not available for streaming that it's almost comical.
Basically, we're young parents who both work full time and don't have much time to watch anything anyway.
This is a snakeskin jacket. And for me it's a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom.
