Hate to admit it but Thanksgiving is probably my favorite Roth film, didn't like Cabin Fever much and never had the stomach for the Hostel things. I root for the guy since he was one of the original Lynchnetters, though.

That must've been during one of my hiatuses from the board. I don't remember him.

He's not much of a writer but I appreciate his enthusiasm for gore.
This is a snakeskin jacket. And for me it's a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom.

He had (if memory serves) some connection to the Twin Peaks California crew, and would very occasionally pop by and post under his own name to pimp whatever it was he was up to. Not really much of a contributor, but he was around back in the day.

I remember Eli fondly. He did some weird stuff that was semi-connected to Lynch (something with tomatoes... ?) and was an all around nice guy to talk to on the board. He seemed to be genuinely into Lynch, at least at that point, and I remember him talking about Cabin Fever as this small indie thing way before it blew up and became a hit. I haven't liked any of his films so far, but hey - seems like a nice chap.

Seems that way, too, on his films' copious DVD features and commentaries.

gotta say, i found that trailer greatly amusing. and i'm generally not a fan of the "torture-porn" shit whatsoever. but something about the bottom falling out from under the über-idealistic college kids is very appealing to me.

There’s trouble ahead for Eli Roth‘s The Green Inferno. The film has been set for a September release, but Open Road has just taken the movie off its release calendar. But this isn’t the result of controversy or a problem with the film. No, this is the result of a business problem between the company that financed the movie, Worldview Entertainment, and the guy who used to lead Worldview. Roth’s movie is, like many of the characters in the film, just a victim of a bad situation.

Deadline reports that Worldview Entertainment “is balking at ex-CEO Christopher Woodrow’s commitment to provide the P&A.” Which is to say, Worldview, rather than distributor Open Road, is committed to paying some of the big costs associated with theatrical distribution.

Will the film be rescheduled after all this is worked out, or will it just end up going to direct to disc as a result of the conflict? We don’t know at this point, and there’s no indication from either Open Road or Worldview. This problem now is the result of the restructuring going on at Worldview after Woodroow left the company with little warning in June.

In the wake of Woodrow’s unexplained split from Wolrdview, the company’s new management has been putting a halt to spending based on deals made by the departed exec, and looking into all the deals made under his regime. There’s a chance we’ll hear of other problems. Deadline reports, for instance, that Hoyt David Morgan is suing Worldview, claiming he put $3.7m into the company in exchange for an exec producer credit on Birdman, which he did not receive. That is unlikely to affect the release of Birdman, which is heartening.

We’ll report on any release information that comes up for The Green Inferno.

saw this last night. don't believe the hype about it just being a "gross-out" film, do believe the hype about it being really good. there are absolutely "gross-out" scenes, but it's not the entire movie. several scenes where we were laughing outloud at the absurdity, which was intended i believe. it's a disturbing film that we talked about the rest of the night. stay for the quick credits tag, which is greatly amusing.
